Your Guide to Yoga at the GoPro Mountain Games | By Kirsten Dobroth

Last Updated: December 6, 2023By

Have you ever happy-babied from an aspen-lined park at the base of Vail Mountain? When the GoPro Mountain Games (June 6-9) take over Vail Village you’ll have your chance, as the Zen Zone near the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is transformed into the Games’ outdoor yoga epicenter. We mapped out every flow so you can focus on your chaturangas — and save time for plenty of spectating at all the other events throughout the weekend.

Thursday

Yoga + Life with Bobby L’Heureux & Kim Fuller, June 6 at 9 a.m.
You can flow with yours truly on the kick-off morning of GoPro Mountain Games on the lawn near Betty Ford Gardens in Vail. Just keep Bobby’s pro tip in mind for class: Bring your sunscreen and a smile. “It gives all attendees an opportunity to get involved without competing,” says L’Heureux of the weekend’s yoga offerings. “We are all here together enjoying all the Mountain Games have to offer.”

Friday

Sonic Vinyasa with Julia Clarke & Brian Dahlen, June 7 at 9 a.m.
Brian Dahlen provides the electric guitar soundtrack to a high-energy class led by Mountain Soul Yoga co-founder Julia Clarke for Friday morning’s Sonic Vinyasa. “The only tip needed is to commit to having a good time,” says Clarke. “The Games are all about adventure and exploration, so they’re really a good opportunity to try anything you haven’t done before, surrounded by the mountains and world class athletes.”

Saturday

Yoga + Beats with Yvonne & Kirby K, June 8 at 8 a.m.
Early risers will love Saturday morning’s flow as Yoga Off Broadway founder Yvonne Schwartz guides participants through a mindful class accompanied by Kirby K’s deep house beats. “The venue itself is special as the Betty Ford Gardens are so lush this time of year and they make the perfect backdrop for yoga,” says Schwartz. “Kirby always brings an awesome selection of beats to complement the practice.”

Empowering Flow with Gina Caputo, June 8 at 9:30 a.m.
Colorado School of Yoga Founder and Director Gina Caputo leads an Integrated Vinyasa session, with all levels and abilities encouraged to join. “There is a special energy at the GoPro Mountain Games — part celebration, part intensity, part playfulness,” says Caputo. “I craft my yoga classes to sync with that energy so they truly feel like part of the Games.”

Sunday

Power Yoga with Julie Kiddoo, June 9 at 8 a.m.
If you want a class that will make you sweat, don’t miss Sunday morning’s power yoga class with Revolution Power Yoga owner Julie Kiddoo. The studio is a Baptiste Affiliate, which means classes are typically physically engaging and challenging. Although, Kiddoo’s favorite part is simple: “Doing yoga outside and getting to be a part of nature is the best.”

Slow Flow & Deep Stretch Yoga with Gina Caputo, June 9 at 9:30 a.m.
If you really need to relax and recharge after running around Vail Village all weekend, consider Gina Caputo’s mindful slow flow as your final shavasana. This final class of the Games promises to be a downtempo chance to stretch and unwind.
