Try It On : Sherpa Yangzum Parka | By Lexi Reich

Last Updated: May 4, 2020By

Sherpa Adventure Gear named their Yangzum jacket (pronounced yang-zoom) after Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, brand ambassador, the first Nepalese woman to be certified by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) and member of the first all-women Nepalese team to summit K2 — the second highest mountain in the world — in 2014.

Sherpa is “adventure gear with purpose.” Every purchase made funds a school day for a child in Nepal. Donations benefit teacher training, developing and distributing quality reading materials, and building libraries and renovating classrooms. The brand is committed to supporting education to combat child labor and marriage issues in the nation.

The quality of Sherpa’s products mirrors the goodness of their mission: to help the communities and people of Nepal by creating gear to inspire exploration, adventure and new experiences.

The Yangzum Parka is a major highlight from the brand. The Himalayan inspired printed taffeta liner and 3M™ Thinsulate™ featherless insulate makethis a one-of-a-kind winter and spring essential. The 75-percent recycled insulation is designed to mimic down when dry, but is warmer than down when wet — perfect for all weather conditions. The timeless Nepal-inspired design is slim-fitting and hugs in all the right spots. Water-resistant finish, zippered hand warmer pockets, removable hood … there’s not much this jacket is missing.

The only downfall is the zipper sometimes gets caught in the layered inside, but it’s not a major issue — some tugging will do the trick. The jacket comes in six sizes and one beautiful burgundy color.
